Steven Neeley, MBA, CFP®
Financial Advisor
As a seasoned financial planner and advisor, I don’t just create financial plans—I create roadmaps for a secure, stress-free future. With over a decade of experience, I’ve helped corporate executives, business owners, and retirees craft customized strategies designed to optimize retirement income, minimize taxes, and protect wealth.
If you’re wondering whether you’re on track for retirement or concerned about what rising taxes could mean for your nest egg, I’ve got solutions. I specialize in turning complex financial strategies—like Roth conversions, tax-efficient withdrawals, and risk management—into clear, actionable plans that maximize your after-tax wealth and safeguard your lifestyle.
What makes my approach different? I focus on solving real-world problems with practical, proven strategies. As a former Chief Investment Officer, I’ve witnessed firsthand the mistakes investors make and the strategies that truly work. I’ve developed systems that simplify the complex—like tax planning that boosts after-tax wealth and investment strategies that align with real-life goals. My clients don’t get cookie-cutter solutions; they get strategies based on data, experience, and an understanding of what it takes to preserve and grow wealth through all market cycles. I focus on delivering clear steps and measurable outcomes so you know exactly what to expect—and I’ve seen firsthand how the right decisions can lead to decades of financial confidence.
Now, I run Fortress Capital Advisors with one goal in mind: helping my clients retire comfortably and confidently. Whether you’re just starting to think about retirement or you’re deep into retirement planning, I’ll work with you to design a plan that gives you peace of mind—no matter what the market does.
If you’re ready to turn your goals into a reality and eliminate the guesswork around your financial future, let’s talk.
Things You Should Know
- I am a Certified Financial Planner™ and fiduciary, meaning that I will put your best interests first, and fully disclose and manage unavoidable conflicts fairly in your favor.
- I am a Fee-Only financial advisor, which means that I do not accept commission, referral fees, or compensation of any kind based on selling financial products, without exception.
- I have more than a decade of experience in the financial services industry. Prior to founding Fortress Capital Advisors, I served as the chief investment officer of a large independent wealth management firm where I oversaw hundreds of millions of dollars in client assets.
- I have a network of experts in their respective legal, tax, and insurance fields that you can utilize.
Personal
- My family and I are avid global travelers and foodies. If I could visit one place again and again, it would be Granada, Spain. I don’t think I could ever tire of sitting next to the river, sipping wine, eating tapas and staring up at the magnificent Alhambra.
- Pickleball is the best sport!

Favorite Book:
Non-fiction – Endurance: Shackleton’s Incredible Voyage by Alfred Lansing. This true account of Ernest Shackleton and his crew’s survival in the Antarctic is simply incredible and will likely make whatever problems you are dealing with seem pretty small in comparison.
Fiction – Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut Jr.(I have to go with a Hoosier here!) Billy Pilgrim’s experience of becoming “unstuck” in time is such an apt description of how life is experienced when looking back.
Strangest Thing Ever Eaten:
This is tough because if you spend a lot of time in Asia, you tend to eat a lot of “dare” foods. I’ll say it’s a tie between a live baby octopus and barbecued chicken’s anus.

“Whenever I’m about to do something, I think, ‘Would an idiot do that?’ And if they would, I do not do that thing.” Dwight Schrute – The Office
